Des Moines County Jail Administrator Duane Worthy introduced new Community Transition Coordinator Kristin Kramer to the Board of Supervisors this week.
Kramer will work with county inmates…in particular those with mental health issues…connecting them with the appropriate outside care…in an effort to reduce the number of times they return to jail.
In related developments, the new 8-county mental health care region…as mandated by the state…becomes official July 1st…and Des Moines County Maintenance Director Rodney Bliesener told the board that’ll coincide with the opening of the new mental health crisis center in Burlington. (The region will have a second center in Fairfield.)
Back on the personnel front, Acting County Attorney Amy Beavers announced the hiring of a new Assistant Attorney. Patricia Skeffington picks up where Lisa Schaefer left off when she recently resigned. Skeffington will be paid $45,000 a year.
