John Deere model D105 lawn tractors with serial numbers beginning with 1GXD105 have been recalled.

John Deere has recalled 25,000 lawn tractors and service part transmissions because of a crash hazard.

The John Deere D105 lawn tractors are being recalled because the transmission can fail, leading to the crash hazard. The recall, announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, involves John Deere model D105 lawn tractors with serial numbers beginning with 1GXD105.

The model number is printed on the side of the engine hood. The serial number is located on the rear frame of the machine above the left rear tire.

An estimated 25,000 tractors and 500 transmission service parts are included in the recall. The tractors were sold at Home Depot, Lowes, and John Deere dealers nationwide from February 2016 through July 2017.

People with the recalled lawn tractor are asked to stop using it immediately and contact the closest John Deere dealer for a free repair.

No injuries have been reported.
