Crusaders Dominate Tigers, as Volleyball Season is Cranked Up

In girls high school volleyball yesterday…

(#1-1A) Holy Trinity swept (#6-1A) New London, 25-8, 25-9 and 25-8

(#6-3A) Mediapolis swept WACO, 25-11, 25-14 and 25-12

Burlington came from behind to beat Clinton in 5 games

Notre Dame defeated Danville in three

West Burlington swept Central Lee (in 3)

Wapello swept L-M

Winfield-Mt. Union edged Iowa Mennonite in five games

Columbus got by Lone Tree in five

Ft. Madison outlasted Mt. Pleasant in five

 

In cross country…

Danville-New London won the girls Class A Van Buren Invitational and the Danville-New London boys came in second behind Winfield-Mt.Union. Among the girls, Van Buren was second…and in the boys meet, Holy Trinity placed third, then Van Buren and Wayne.

In Double-A, it was Davis County, Mediapolis and Central Lee(in that order) in the VB boys meet and Mepo and Davis County in the girls competition.

 

In boys golf…

BHS 328, Muscatine 338 (Burlington’s Jace Mueller shot a 77 and Jared Hoelzen a 78.   Muscatine’s Jaden Carey medalled with a 75).

West Central 163, Southeastern 195 (The Heat’s Brent Nichols shot a 39 and Landon Bowman a 40).

And in college golf, LSU won the GolfWeek Conference Challenge at Spirit Hollow by 11 strokes over SMU. Iowa came in third, another 14 shots back.   LSU’s Stewart Jolly took medallist honors with a 9-under-par 207, four strokes better than teammate Eric Ricard.
