Jury Selection Has Begun For the Trial of Man Accused of Fatal Shooting

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Jury selection has begun for the trial of a 28-year-old man accused of fatally shooting an acquaintance in Waterloo.

Authorities say testimony could begin later Wednesday against Roderick Ward Jr., who is charged with murder. Police say Ward blasted away with a shotgun to kill 27-year-old Gary Wilson outside Ward’s home on Aug. 2, 2014.

The two had argued moments before the shooting. Court records say Ward followed Wilson outside Ward’s house and then shot him several times.
