Carolyn J. Dehner, 72, of Burlington, died at 12:35 PM Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington after an eight year battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Born October 18, 1942, in Oquawka, IL, she was the daughter of Clarence John and Helen Grace Sterett Vaughan. On September 8, 1965, she married Paul David Dehner in Burlington.

Carolyn had been a registered nurse for 42 years working at the Burlington Medical Center and retired from the Great River Medical Center .

She was a 1960 graduate of Gladstone-Oquawka High School. She graduated from Burlington Hospital School of Nursing in 1963.

Carolyn was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed reading, traveling, flower gardening, feeding the birds, and lunches with her friends.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Michael David Dehner of Chicago, IL; one daughter, Rachel Ann Dehner of Denver, CO; and one sister, Sandra Moody of Oquawka, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece, Kelly Fullerton Snyder.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mrs. Dehner will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Great River Cancer Center and the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
