DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — The Siberian husky that served as Northern Illinois University’s mascot for nearly a decade is fighting cancer. But that didn’t stop Diesel the dog from attending this season’s football opener at Huskie Stadium. The DeKalb Daily Chronicle reports Diesel was diagnosed with lymphoma in August and seems to be responding to chemotherapy pills.
