Spann sentenced to life in prison

Burlington, Ia (The Beacon)-  Emmanuel Spann was Sentenced to Life in Prison on Monday for first-degree murder in the 2017 death of Demarcus Chew.

The Burlington Beacon Reports that Spann was found guilty of aiding and abetting and thus is ineligible for parole.

Spann was one of five people accused in the murder of Chew, which prosecutors say was a $20,000 hit job from a Chicago gang.

3 of the other men, Andre Harris, Antoine Spann, and Derrick Parker plead guilty to other related crimes and were given sentences between 15 and 20 years.  The fourth man, Caesar Davidson was sentenced on lesser charges to 15 years.  Davidson was accused of being the one who shot Chew.
