Burlington man arrested on drug and weapons charges

Burlington, IA-  The Burlington Police Department has announced the arrest of a man on multiple charges.

According to a news release, at about 8:43 AM Tuesday, April 16th, Burlington Police Officers responded to a report of shots being fired in the area of the 1300 block of North 6th Street.

While officers were responding to the area, they were given a description of an adult male who was seen walking away from the area.

When officers arrived they located evidence of a firearm being shot into the ground. Officers were able to view multiple videos from residents in the area, and an adult male matching the suspect in the video and initial description was located walking in the area.

The man, 18-year-old Dayton Murray showed signs of intoxication and it was learned that he lived a block away in the 600 block of Sycamore Street.

A search warrant was conducted at Murray’s residence, and police located a large amount of marijuana, as well as a firearm that had been reported stolen out of West Liberty, Iowa.

Murray was arrested and charged with Carrying Weapons While intoxicated, Reckless use of Firearm, Possession with Intent to Deliver – Marijuana, Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp, 5th Degree Theft, and Public Intoxication.
