2 Years After the Storm — Local Airport Begins Work on 5 New Hangars

The Southeast Iowa Regional Airport Board cut a ribbon this(Fri) morning to mark the beginning of construction of five new hangars at the south-side Burlington facility.

Airport Manager Mary Beaird says the bigger hangars will allow the airport to serve some bigger planes.

The Board would also like the City to rezone a 3-acre parcel next to the airport, a move many of the neighbors don’t favor…but Beaird says she’s confident that something can be worked out.

The airport leases the land to Floyd’s E-Z Way Container Service, a company that some of the adjacent neighbors say contaminates the environment.
